Christmas Eve and Christmas in Poland – Traditions that Unite

In Poland, Christmas Eve and Christmas are special times filled with traditions that highlight the importance of family. Christmas Eve, celebrated on December 24, begins with the appearance of the first star in the sky. The main event is a festive dinner, which traditionally includes twelve meatless dishes, such as borscht with dumplings, pierogi, and carp.

A key symbol of Christmas Eve is sharing the opłatek wafer, a gesture of mutual good wishes and reconciliation. Hay is placed under the tablecloth as a reminder of Jesus’ birth in the manger.

Christmas in Poland is also celebrated with caroling, decorating the Christmas tree, and attending Pasterka, a midnight Mass that brings a sense of holiday spirit. This is a time that blends tradition with the joy of being with loved ones, carrying a message of love and peace.

The Sonder team wishes you a healthy, peaceful, and joyful Christmas, along with prosperity and success in the coming New Year. May this special time bring warmth, comfort, and many happy moments.
